Irrational Fears

I know many--if not all--people have irrational fears.  I mean fears that aren't the normal things like spiders, enclosed spaces, or heights.  Sure you can be afraid of those too, but I'm talking about fears that seem completely stupid, improbable, silly, and/or nonsensical to anyone else.  The problem with these fears is that they always seem completely probable, serious, and terrifying to the people that have them, and those people never have the chance to explain that their stupid fears make perfect sense.
So, that is what I'm going to do for you today.
My stupid fears and why they coincide with my logic:

1.  I have this crippling fear of mysterious detached hair.  You don't know the questionable hygienic philosophy of the person that fell off of.  Maybe they don't believe in bathing.  What if that person belongs to some strange religion that teaches that washing the grease out of your hair allows evil spirits to enter your brain??  ...Okay, yes. It's irrational, but still, thinking about it gives me goosebumps... and makes me gag.

2.  I can't drink out of water bottles that have condensation all over the inside.  It was weirds me out.  Plus, it seems like a waste of all of those little water particles.

3.  I'm afraid that when I die, I might die with my mouth open...  A spider could crawl down my throat and nestle itself right in my dead stomach.  Gross.

4.  Ever since I was a little kid, I've always had the compulsion to wipe my silverware off on something before it can go in my mouth.  I've always thought that when I picked up a new utensil, a little crumb would be cringing to the back side of it and I would unknowingly eat that dusty, stale particle of food that I did not want in my body.

Anyway, those are all of the socially condemning quirks I'm willing to share at this time.

Online Dating

So I haven't really admitted this to many people.  Like three people.  But oh well, here it goes... Considering the nearly under-exaggerated statement that 'All of my friends are getting married', I was feeling quite lonely about a week ago.  It's been almost two years since I was with my ex-boyfriend and I hadn't even been on a date in months.  I had heard of people finding others on online dating sites, but I had never really trusted them (also I was quite convinced of their well-merited stigma of 'creepy').  So I gave into my curiosity--after much procrastination and surprisingly little thought--and signed up for a website that will go unnamed.  *coughs* Plenty of Fish... Excuse me, sorry.

At first, I was excited.  I put up some cute pictures of me and wrote some tidbits about myself and waited.  It took only about 20-30 minutes before I got my first message.  It was from a skinny fellow who... looked like he would have slit a stranger's throat with creepy curved dagger and then posed in his skinny jeans with the body.  Okay, that's a little dramatic.  But not by much.
His basic message was something like this: "Hey, I think you're really cute. Let's [do laundry]."

To which I responded with the following message:
"Thank you for the compliment, it's very flattering.  However, I am looking for a serious, non-physical relationship.  Good luck in your future romantic endeavors."

Several of the messages that followed over the next few days were similar.  However, I was also showered with flattering compliments by less creepy and even some attractive men, which really boosted my confidence and faith in finding someone to date.

Then, one message stated something like this:
"Hey, I have this problem, blah, blah, blah--girl scarred me--blah, blah, blah--self-conscious. Could I send you a picture of [the Netherlands]? It would make me feel a lot better about my [picture taking]."
Disturbing...

Needless to say, I only lasted about a week before I deleted my account...  I'd rather have face-to-face interaction where creeps have a harder time getting away with being creepy to my face.

How to Make Guys Stop Throwing Things Down Your Shirt

So earlier this year in January, I was at a movie with my boyfriend of three months--the movie was "The Green Hornet" and it's terrible never ever see it. There we were waiting for the movie to start, I--being my innocent self--was sitting there so harmlessly, daintly nibbling on my popcorn when Chris rudely and maliciously tosses a piece right down my shirt. So being the lady-like female that I am, I dug it out of my shirt and ate it looking completely unphased. Then exercising the first, most equal retaliation that I could think up, took a wad of that salty, buttery goodness and shoved it straight up his nose.
Needless to say, he was quite horrified by my action. Such that he could not speak for a minute or two. When he recovered, he stared me in the eye--popcorn hanging from his nose--and said, "I cannot believe... you just did that."
I smiled innocently, "Don't throw popcorn down my shirt."

Let's just say he never did that again. Then again... we did break up three days later... Correlation? Possibly.

...CHOCOLATE!!!! & men suck

Ok, so yesterday I spontaneously felt like eating M&M's that I have in the fridge (six jumbo bags to be exact) (wait- no! I didn't eat all of them! I don't plan to either, they're for a YSA activity this Saturday and they're just sitting there. Torturing me..) and I found out that M&M's are seriously like crack for my brain! I ran around my house like a 5-year-old on an entire supply of Halloween candy. In hindsight, it must have been very scary to watch.

Insight into my Brain

If you ask anybody who knows me well if I am an impulsive person, they will laugh and probably say something like, "Yes! This one time.." or "Yeah, she random reaches over and grabs my face." But they will probably never tell you about a destructively impulsive moment and that would be because I have amazing self-control. The truth is I have random, mischievous impulsive ideas constantly. For example, on Wednesday my friend Sesa and I planned a surprise going away party at BJ's for our friend Analise who is moving on Saturday. Each one of us had a personal pizza sitting on (OH! I just totally had an urge to flick the busdriver in the back of his head!) a little stand in front of us and a rather large spatula sitting in it. We were all talking and suddenly I stopped and turned to my friend next to me and said, "Karrie, I just got the random urge to catapult that tomato across the room." Then a few weeks ago at swing dancing, I was standing behind this really fat Mexican dude and after several long, torturous minutes I finally texted my sister and said, "There's this really fat Mexican dude standing in front of me and he has GIANT fat rolls on the back of his head and I want to poke it SO BAD!"
Some how I am able to control myself but it's easier said than done... so watch out :)

...no burrito??

So, my roommate from Tucson totally got me addicted to Chipotle and I'm cheap and poor so I try not to buy them too often. But as of today it's been two weeks so I figured it's been long enough :) So, I've been completely psyched this whole week about my plans to get a Chipotle Chicken Burrito today when I finally got back from Tempe since there's one two miles north of Poly. I drove there thinking that today is going to be the most amazing day of my life and when I get there I find out that I have $2 and no debit card. I wanted to cry.. (not really, it was hunger pains). So, after driving home very disappointed, I ate a chicken roll and some orange sherbet (not together, of course) and watched CSI, then I felt better. :)

Fingerpainting isn't just for 5-year-olds

Yes, it's sad but I am the only 19-year-old that I know that still stick my hands in paint and smears them all over paper and isn't embarrassed about it. Actually, I'm proud of it. I regularly paint with acrylics on canvas and I love it. Recently, I have been working on an ocean scene which, as I get farther along, will eventually have a cute little lighthouse in it. :)

The Honest Scrap

10 Honest Things About Me, Mik, because I was tagged by the lovely Whit.

1. I just transferred from U of A to ASU and moved back in with my parents.

2. I miss having a job, because I hate spending money without having an income.

3. I'm majoring in Secondary Education, and I am incredibly excited to be an English teacher some day :)

4. If I could, I would spend all of my time painting, drawing, and reading. I feel like I learn a lot about myself when I am creating something.

5. I love dried fruit! :) Especially mangoes, pears, and raisins.

6. I love being outside, especially in the mountains.

7. I now share my room with my little sister Rachel (my mini-me) and it's a blast because we have so much fun together!

8. I am currently reworking a story that I have been writing since 7th grade and I think it's finally working out.

9. I love watching movies! Especially action and comedies :)

10. I hate watching TV unless I feel like it actually does me some good. I do like CSI: Las Vegas, Cold Case, Forensic Files, and occasionally Discovery Channel. (Especially crime shows!)

I'm a traitor and PROUD of it :)

Basically, U of A sucks because they got rid of their Secondary Education program... yeah, I'm mad =P Because I love it here but I don't want to have to do even more schooling after college when I could just transfer to ASU and do it all in 4 years (considering that's what my tuition waiver covers). So basically I'm leaving to go to our rival school, but you know what?? I don't care! ASU is apparently better because they don't say, 'Screw you, future-high-school-teachers!' Plus, I'm very excited to be living with my family again soon! :)

I is a college student :)

I moved into the Apache-Santa Cruz dorms about two weeks ago from yesterday. And I LOVE my roommate, she's awesome and we get along so well that it's weird. We are so alike it's freaky sometimes. I got a little homesick, but that was all cured when Whitney come down to Tucson on Friday (last weekend) to visit me! We had an amazing time :) We watched tons of Gilmore Girls with my roommate and her awesomely sweet boyfriend (he never ceases to amaze me), went to Walmart for some late dorm shopping, walked around campus several times, and went to church that Sunday. You never realize how much you miss somebody until they go away and you want to cry whenever you think about them. That's why I am so glad I am able to see Whitney so often and that I came to see my family this weekend! I have missed them SOOO much!
So far I like all my classes and I am making friends in all my classes :) I LOVE my institute class and I've only been once so far. I had a fair amount of homework this weekend but I'm done with it now :) I am SUPER excited for this week cuz there is no school Monday, Whit is coming on Thursday (we're pretty sure), and on Friday I'm leaving on my weekend-long backpacking trip! WOOT! =D I'll update later!

I'm a jobless bum...

I had to quit my job at the vet clinic of TWO YEARS and my last day was Friday. I feel like I have no life now. And strangely enough, it is very liberating. I thought it would be far more depressing than it is. I have nowhere to be, I'm never late to be anywhere because I don't have anywhere to go! Hooray for being a jobless bum!

My life sucks...

I had to go to the dentist yesterday. I hate the dentist. And the dental hygienists must hate everyone that walks through that door, because I swear they thoroughly enjoy inflicting pain on you in any way possible. My personal favorite is when they take those very sharp tools and scrape away at your teeth and just so happen to take out half of your gum with it. And only when you visibly cringe do they ask, "Oh! Did that hurt?" "No, lady, I'm only hemorrhaging from my mouth. I enjoy pain, keep going." Why do you think I'm flinching?? I do not have full-body twitching spasms! ...ugh... Oh! And then they pull out like two feet of floss, wrap it around their evil little fingers, and shove it as hard as they can between your teeth to slice through the shredded remains of what used to be your gums. Then as you lay there drowning in your own blood, she looks at you and says, "Oh! You're bleeding, you need to floss more." No, lady, I don't need to floss more. I floss twice daily, you need some serious anger management counseling to redirect the outlet of your rage!!
Oh, and I just found out I have to go back to get my wisdom teeth out. TOMORROW!
I hate dentists, and my life...

Hi :)

This is my first post ever blogging. Woohoo :) I had nothing to do when I got home from work today so I thought, 'Hey, I'll make a blog!' (Yes, I need a life.) So, we'll see how it goes :)
